I am not sure if everyone saw this today pop up in their internet news feed, but the fun, self, body loving Oprah states that she is "embarrassed" of her body and weight! SHe now weighs 200 pounds and stated that she "has fallen off the wagon". I beliive that she should embrace the weight gain instead of looking at her old slimmer self. Oprah is an amazing woman and i feel as thought she should not think down on herself because of her looks but think about all the charities and organizations she has formed and donated thousands, even millions to! A reassuring thing is that Oprah states that she does not want to get "skinny" but instead "strong, healthy and fit"! It is also astonishing to me that her previous weight loss was from a liquid diet that she literally starved herself to loose weight! What do you think about this article and Oprah's new image at 200 pounds?

I'm sad that the media has to portray Oprah's weight issues in a negative manner, and should shed light on the fact that she wants to become a strong, healthy, woman. Also, the first line of the article bothers me that the writer mocks Oprah for eating too much food at Obama's parties. This is another example of how the media tells women what they should look like, and also what they should and should not do.
My mom has watched Oprah for as long as I can remember and most of the time I watched it with her.(Even though she gets on my nerves). I have noticed through the years that Oprah has never had one long steady period of weight. Here weight has always fluctuated, whether she is big or small she I a woman who has achieved much success and needs to overcome the obstacles with great strength. A woman of such a standard she really realize that she is a role model to younger generations who will be looking up to her for guidance. When she bashes her self she not only does that to herself but teaches those who look up to her that it is okay.
She has done so much good for those who do need the help that those should be the things that she should be remembered for not the issues of her weight or what she is eating or how she is going about and taking care of herself. There is soo much more to life than who is fat and who is skinny right now.
After reading this article one of the quotations made by Oprah stuck out to me…
"I can't believe that after all these years, all the things I know how to do, I'm still talking about my weight… “
I can’t believe after all these years Oprah, a woman who has accomplished so much and has so much to be proud of, is still so concerned with her weight. It is really sad to me that she is, in a way, letting her weight define her. There are so many, so many, other achievements, accomplishments, and significant and defining things Oprah has done with her life. Yet, she and the media choose to focus on one superficial, insignificant thing, her weight. It is just disappointing that someone who stands so strongly for doing things her own way can fall into the trap of worry about what other people think of her. I guess it just goes to show you, even the most power and strong people can get wrapped up in letting the media define who they are. Oprah is letting people define her and accepting that definition as she refers to herself as “a fat cow.” I really hope Oprah will take her right to be who she is back into her own hands, and start defining herself as the beautiful, talented, and accomplished woman she is.
i personally don't like oprah, but she has been battling her weight for quite some time know. also, she's probably saying that because she wants to prepare for obama's inauguration and she wants to look good.
