Check this out. While it is five years old, it applies to both issues we talked about in class today (and by both issues, I mean Proposition 8 and Elvis). What do you think? Personally, in the comic I like how the kids' fashions are different.
What is Women's Studies & why on earth should we study women? Don't we know enough about them already? & what's this feminism thing? Well, if you're asking these questions--or any other like it--this is the blog for you! A class blog belonging to a Saint Mary's College Intro to Women's Studies class, this blog will explore what feminism is while serving as a chronicle for our development as a class, as students, as women, and as feminists.

I think both times it was ridiculous. Every generation has some issue/topic that previous generations believe will be the downfall of good ol' fashion values. Everything from serious progressions in society such as divorce, sex and gay marriage to almost silly things like Elvis, Rock music, myspace. All of these things are viewed by older generations as killing family values, connection with people, etc.
I think its ridiculous. Our society and culture have to evolve and to try and fight things like Elvis or gay marriage is stopping our evolution.
Too funny Micky. Where did you find this comic clip?
OH, hmmm... I don't remember where I found it. I think it came up on a google image search for pictures of Elvis in 1956. I was going to include it in my presentation for my senior seminar class, but I think I took it out...
